You are quite right. Now then, a little bit of accounting:

What happens in the bank's balance sheet when the firm uses its credit line at the bank in order to remunerate the worker, supposing for simplicity that the firm and the worker are customers at the same bank?

  • The very moment the firm is debited with a sum of money on the asset side of the bank's balance sheet, the worker is credited with the exact same amount of money, which leaves behind a corresponding deposit on the liabilities side of the bank's balance sheet

  • The bank takes somebody's savings that are registered on the liabilities side of the bank's balance sheet and hands them over to the firm in need of the loan. This makes the liabilities side of the bank decrease and leaves the asset side unaffected.
